It was a proud day for Dobwalls Football Club today as Adam Sewell, Dobwalls U18s captain, got his first taste of first team flavoured football.
With the 1st teams South West Peninsula League campaign taking a pause, it was off to Salt Mill all weather surface to face Plymouth and West League Side Mainstone Sports in a friendly.
A somewhat comprehensive win saw the 17 year old Sewell, grab some hard earned footballing action under the floodlights at Saltash. After 10 years of hard graft and a lot of football, Adam showed what a good footballer he is and showed glimpses of the potential he has to give to the club
Adam joined the club as a seven year old and has played in every year group since. Mark Lees (DFC Youth Development officer) stated “ as a club we know that developing youth is going to be an integral part of the first time set up going forward. As a club we want to show that there is a clear pathway for all our youth players into the adult game, whilst allowing the players to keep developing their footballing knowledge”
Simon Westlake (DFC first team manager) stated “ Its great to see Adam make his first team appearance and get some minutes under his belt. As long as Adam keeps working hard and listens to his coaches he has a bright future ahead of him”.
From all of us at Dobwalls FC well done Adam.
